AKPsi has and continues to sponsor many community service events as part of our continuing effort to give back to the community at large. We participate in a wide range of activities, including PubliColor, Soup Kitchens, volunteering at Holiday fairs, NYArts, and most notably, Relay for Life. Our teams have placed #2 in all of NYU for fundraising for a great cause. We believe that having such a wide range of community service activities encourages brothers further participate in community service organizations on their own time. In 2011, our events included:

In conjunction with several other NYU organizations, Alpha Kappa Psi co-sponsored a vigil to build support and awareness of the devastating earthquake in Japan this past March. We also created and sold lanyards to raise money for the victims of the disaster.

Earlier in the year, we had created cards and sent origami to the children at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. At this event, we had the opportunity to spend an afternoon playing with the children.

We spent three hours cleaning up at 90th Street Beach in Rockaway Beach, Queens in honor of Earth Day. The event was held to raise environmental awareness of ocean and coastal pollution to the local community.

We teamed up with various other groups and organizations throughout NYU to generate support for cancer victims and raise money to help fund research for cancer treatment. We worked throughout the year to raise money for Relay for Life.

Members of AKPsi participated in various events from September 8th-11th to honor the fallen and help those affected by the 9/11 attacks during the 10th anniversary. Events included volunteering at the Union Settlement Soup Kitchen, with Union Settlement Meals on Wheels and knitting scarves and mittens for local seniors.

Our members gathered to help deliver food to the needy and less fortunate through the City Meals on Wheels program.

We participated in a run down the West Side, which raised money for the families of Army Rangers who have been killed, disabled, or are currently serving.

We sorted through cute baby items with Baby Buggy to donate to less fortunate families who can't afford them.
